Maidenwell Diatomite Australia Pty. Ltd., mines, processes
and manufactures diatomite within the Mining Lease and
Mineral Development Licence at Brooklands Road, Maidenwell,
geographically situated approx. 32 km South of Kingaroy (210

of the lease, registered with the Dept. of Natural Resources
and Mines Queensland.
Maidenwell Diatomite is an opaline siliceous sedimentary
rock consisting of microscopic fossilised skeletal remains
of diatoms, a unicellular aquatic plant.
Maidenwell's Diatomite deposit is ideally suited to use in
the following industry applications.
- Horticulture - high silica additive for potting mix.
- Hydroponics - water saving growing medium.
- Agriculture - foliar spraying.
- Turf management - absorptive, water retention, aeration and enhanced root development.
- Building - mould and fungal inhibitor.
- Pest control - grain storage, industrial and domestic pest management.
- Shipping containers and storage - desiccant and mould inhibitor.
As a growing medium there has been a movement toward
specific crops, many advantages of this product have been
noted in promoting the growth of plants which is largely due
to plant available silica. Maidenwell Diatomite is a rich
source of plant available silica which is widely documented
to stimulate Self Acquired Resistance (SAR) in plants
thereby increasing their resistance to disease.
It should be noted particularly for the Rose, Gerbera,
Orchid and Hydroponic applications that all samples and
products offered from the Maidenwell mine site are derived
only from fresh water deposits of diatomite.
Maidenwell Diatomite Australia Pty. Ltd. achieves a high
standard of quality control through the employment of
regular, systematic testing by our resident Geologist and a
consultant Physicist. It is the ultimate objective of the
company to produce the best quality product available for
these Industries.
Samples of Maidenwell Diatomite (all sizes) are available
upon request.
